A Calleo Woman - Jenna Linley

In celebration of Women’s Month, we’re shining a spotlight on some incredible Calleo women who consistently inspire us. The name ‘Calleo’ comes from Latin, meaning ‘to be skillful or wise through experience,’ and we believe these women truly embody these qualities. Now, let’s introduce you to Jenna Linley.

We’d love to get to know you, tell us about yourself.

As a young woman that manages a team, what advice would you give to aspiring women looking to pursue their dreams?

Find mentors who see your potential and are there to offer support and guidance – especially through the challenging times. Focus on becoming the best version of yourself both inside and outside of work – just 1% better every day – it’ll ripple out to everyone and everything around you. Stay curious – there’s always something new to learn! Lead with empathy – it’s the key to building strong teams and relationships. The journey isn’t always easy but keep pushing forward. The world needs what you have to offer.

As a woman in South Africa, what are you looking forward to when it comes to the advancement of women?

As a woman in South Africa, I’m really excited about the ongoing progress we’re making. I’m looking forward to seeing more of us in leadership roles across all sectors. It’s inspiring to see women breaking barriers and reshaping what’s possible. I’m also eager to see advancements in education and economic opportunities for women, especially in underserved communities. There’s still work to do in addressing gender-based violence and inequality, but I’m hopeful about the growing awareness and action on these issues. I think we’re at a turning point where women’s voices are being heard more than ever before. It’s an exciting time, and I can’t wait to see how we continue to support and uplift each other as we move forward. The future is bright, and I believe South African women will play a huge part in shaping it!

How do you think women can leverage their unique skills and strengths to actively participate in the business world?

I believe women have so much to offer in the business world. We often bring unique perspectives and skills that can really shake things up in a good way. For one, our ability to empathise and connect with others is a huge asset. I’ve found that women often have a knack for collaborative leadership, which can create more inclusive and innovative work cultures.

Embrace your emotional intelligence and use it to your advantage. Trust your intuition, it’s often spot-on. Don’t be afraid to bring your whole self to work – your experiences as a woman give you unique insights that can lead to creative solutions and new approaches.

Also, network! Connect with other women in business, share experiences, and lift each other up. There’s power in community, and when we support each other, we all rise.
